Jet of the Day - Satin Doll & Co

Grow With Me Into the New Year

As a jewelry designer/maker it's always great to evolve and learn new techniques and skills; either by taking a class or teaching yourself. When you look at my shop, Satin Doll & Co. you might see one or two styles but I've made it my business to take my shop to the next level.

Fall Neutrals Feather Wire Wrapped Earrings

I recently got into wire wrapping. Now first off, to everyone who does wire wrapping on a daily basis, I  applaud you because it isn't a skill for everyone. When I first started making jewelry I started with wire wrapping and dropped the skill. But recently I went back to it for my feather earrings.

When learning a new skill, my one tip is to take your time and if you don't succeed try, try again. If you can't figure out how to do it on your own, invest the money in a class or a book.

Learning and adding a new style of jewelry to your jewelry assortment is key to keeping your shop fresh and your customers interested in your brand. I'm definitely brainstorming on the next technique I would like to learn.

Enough talk, what skill or technique would you like to learn in the coming months? Let's make a pact to learn a new technique for 2012.Who's with me?
-- Sincerely,
Gaetana

I did the same thing with wire.. made my first attempts years and years ago and ended up the frustrated owner of lots of wire wads! LOL Glad I went back and stuck with it. Beautiful earrings Gaetana, and great post on perseverance!

How about organization, does that count as a skill? No room for more interests...just yet, anyway.
