~The Etsy Jet Spring Challenge~
The Jewelry on Etsy team held its early Spring challenge and voters came from all over the internet to take part; 357 votes in all.
What was it all about? Eleven JET members were given a fictional scenario of a young woman; and the challenge was to design the perfect jewelry for her outfit and upcoming occasion.
Here is How it Went:
The Scenario
The People :
Kathy – is 23 years old, light brown hair, green eyes with a pale complexion. She lives at home with Mum and Dad and works in an office for an Insurance company. She is a city girl who loves to read romantic novels, take strolls in the country and getting together with her friends at the local wine bar.
Mathew – is 25 years old, tall and tanned from working on the farm. He is the son of a very wealthy land owner.
The Places :
Kathy & Mathew have been dating for 6 months and in a few weeks time Mathew is going to give Kathy a tour of the farmland with morning breakfast at his favorite spot which is the highest point of the land and can be seen for miles. After the tour and breakfast he will be taking her back to the farmhouse to meet his parents.
The Season : Mid Spring.
The Clothes :
The picture below is what Kathy has chosen to wear - a fashionable v-neck dress featuring a paisley print with matching bolero adding low heeled sandals for walking around the land. She loves this dress but thinks it may need sprucing up with a bit of bling.
The Task
And so the team set off to get Kathy accessorized for a country walk and for meeting Mathews parents. To dress to impress - not forgetting the season, the colors for this year and what Kathy is wearing.
The excitement built over the next two weeks as the completed entries trickled in
At the Midnight hour the poll was closed and the winner chosen!
The first runner up with 21% of the vote was Tracy, from Trace Designs with a
beautiful, aqua blue, faceted glass bead set. The coordinating set was simple, yet stunning and set in oxidized sterling silver.
And, the winner with 23% of the vote, is Pam of cooljewelrydesign!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"Arriving at this particular combination took a bit of time because I wanted to coordinate the colors and textures...ending up indeed with an homage to Mother Nature. And also mixing metals--a personal love--sterling, pewter, and one bit of copper. What is cool about this bracelet is that it doesn't travel around your wrist as much, but it's beautiful from any angle."
- Pewter dragonfly focal by Green Girl Studios
- Sterling silver toggle with raised butterfly motif
- Sterling, Bali and Hill Tribe silver in many forms and shapes
- Faceted black onyx barrels and small round smooth onyx
- Aquamarine squares
- Dyed jade faceted rounds
- Czech glass petal beads
- Vintage Lucite
- Cherry quartz
- Freshwater pearl
- Crystal -- two types
- Copper
What Pam did not say, is that the winning bracelet was sold the day it was finished. A Friend of Pam’s saw it, fell in love and had to have it
If you too have fallen in love with the winning bracelet, you must visit Pam’s stores where you will find lots of glorious one of a kind, handcrafted and eclectic jewelry.
You can follow her on Facebook and Twitter too.
Congratulations to all of the JET entrants. The remaining votes were closely divided between the other nine entrants
