Jet of the Day: Brook Scarborough Jewelry Design

Turquoise and Amber Tibetan Necklace with Hand-Forged Sterling Silver Chain
I love Brooke's jewelry! We are celebrating Brooke, of Brooke Scarborough Jewelry Design as our Jet of the Day today.
I am sure you have already surmised that Brooke is a true jewelry artisan. Her handmade jewelry pieces will withstand a lifetime of wear; while her classic style will withstand a lifetime of trends. She began her jewelry career with simple wire wrapping techniques and has evolved into a talented and creative metal smith.

Brooke employs just about every possible technique of metal work in her eclectic collection of handmade earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and rings. For this piece, being from San Diego, Brooke chose an  image from a kelp forest off the coast of California  and etched onto a red brass pendant using a multi-step process that begins with a photo of the forest. The brass was sawed by hand, drilled, shaped with a file, sanded and finally a patina added. Once perfect, it is suspended from an oxidized sterling chain.

Striped Jasper and Sterling Cocktail Ring with Flower and Leaf Detail
Brooke accents every organic detail of the gemstone she chooses perfectly in her jewelry. I was not surprised when I learned of her interior design background.  Her eye for color, design and detail is apparent throughout her body of work
Forged Set of Four Stacking Rings of Sterling and Brass
For these "Sweet Little Labradorite Stud Earrings ",  Brooke hand made the sterling bezels and fit them around the high quality rose-cut Labradorite sparkling gemstones.

Brooke has not forgotten her roots of simple wire work, and today, brings this into her work with unique complexity. In this agate slice with druzy crystals, Brooke created a prong setting and wire wrapped  the stone to the setting for extra durability, security and sparkle. She then  embellished the wire with tiny sterling beads and gray-blue labradorite beads.

Blue Chalcedony and Garnet Necklace

Everything you see in Brooke's store is made by her except for the gemstones, (courtesy of Mother Nature,) and the several eco-chic vintage pieces she mixes in. Brooke recycles every piece of metal used so there is no waste in her studio!
