Turquoise Jewelry: JET Member Creations

By Kristy from SAStudio
Jewelry on Etsy Team: Weekly Handmade Jewelry Round Up: Week of July 24, 2012

Did you know that New Mexico made turquoise the official state gem in 1967? Turquoise is an opaque, blue-to-green mineral,  with the robin's egg blue color being the most prized.

Did you also know that most of the finest quality turquoise comes from the western and southwestern United States? They are the largest producers of turquoise in the world.

JETS make good use of this wonderful stone, in its many versions, shapes and sizes.
This week’s featured artists are:
Turquoise Wire Wrapped Earrings by Jems by JB and Company
Blue Turquoise Hammered Sterling Silver Earrings by Willow Creek Jewelry
Stacked Heishi Turquoise Earrings by Nancy’s Crystal Fantasies
Turquoise Wrap Bracelet or Turquoise Necklace Antique Brass by Beadz n Bling
Southwestern Turquoise and Sterling Silver Necklace and Earring Set by The Brass Hussy

Turquoise is a wonderfully colorful stone where each piece has it's own uniqueness. I used to not care that much for it until I started working with it and studying the history of this seductive gemstone..Now it's one of my favorites.
Great post!!

Here is a subject dear to my heart! I treasure a large turquoise nugget that my grandma bought from the Navajo artist in about 1955. Wonderful assortment of styles and stones in your piece, Kristy.

Living in Texas, the cowboy state, I adore turquoise, so I love this blog. These are beautiful pieces, and I am honored to be among them. Thank you.
