JET Interview - Debbie of DG Designs Handmade Jewelry

Hi, my name is Debbie. I am the owner and creator of Etsy shop stoutdg2.etsy.com.

I started making jewelry after treatment for cancer and have never looked back. I took a two hour class at our local Michael’s store and the rest is history.

I started my handmade jewelry journey with gemstones and then found lampwork beads. I love to find fun, whimsical lampwork beads and create necklaces, bracelets, or earrings. I started on Etsy as a buyer of lampwork beads and then opened my shop to offer my jewelry for sale in 2008.

I mainly find my lampwork beads on Etsy and Ebay. I did get a chance to meet one of my favorite lampworkers, Marcy, of StudioMarcy on Etsy two years ago. Marcy makes the most wonderful lampwork seashells, of which I own quite a few. Here are two pieces of jewelry I created using Marcy’s beads:

A seashell:
And a starfish:

I’ve also recently started adding some gemstone jewelry:
Carribean Aqua Blue Chalcedony and Sterling Silver Wire wrapped Earrings:

 Mystic Hessonite nugget necklace:

I have always thought with the creative, right side of my brain. I have done oil painting, watercolors, and at one time, I even owned by own band saw that I was able to purchase from my profits in woodworking. My new passion is now hand sculpted pottery. I still have a few things on my bucket list to try: PMC clay, making my own lampwork glass beads, and stain glass lessons.

Here’s my first pottery creation:

Thank you for reading and I hope you stop by my shop to see more of my one of a kind handmade jewelry creations

I find support and have a lot of fun with the Jewelry on Etsy (JET) Team. This group of folks are multi-talented and I have found a wonderful new group of friends.
