JET Favorites: SatinDollCo

We introduce the first in our new blog feature in which the JETs will be sharing some of their own favorite pieces with you!

Satin Doll & Co. is  known for colorful, earthy handmade jewelry pieces.  Everyone has  favorites among their own collections. Ever wonder if those favorites are the same as your customer's?

Rarely does one ask the designer "What are your favorite pieces?".  I was at a festival yesterday and I had the rare pleasure to meet a man who had been in a crane accident a couple of years back in Manhattan, New York. To make a long story short, it was a miracle he survived, and one thing he does now that he is disabled, is eat oysters and then paint the shells which become earrings. He was kind enough to point out the pieces he liked and the ones he didn't. The ones he did not like were the ones that really caught my eye because they were so odd, colorful and very unique. Which just shows, the customer's favorite might not be the designer's favorite.

This all made me think.  I have made literally hundreds of pieces of jewelry;  what are my personal favorites?  I wonder if they are my customer's favorites too?

Wooden Desire -Beaded Dangle Earrings

What I love about these earrings is that they are so me! Earthy, wood, big, and dangly. There was really no inspiration behind them. When I got the wooden pendant drops, they were very boring and bland so I painted them with a light layer of acrylic red paint and they just came alive.

Samba Queen - Beaded Bracelet

This bracelet I adore! It is so fun and colorful. It reminds me the colors of the costumes of the Samba dancers in Brazil. I had a lot of fun making this piece. I got the beads for this piece at a show earlier this year, and when I added the  glass beads it was a match made in heaven.

Earthy Hindu Goddess - Beaded Necklace

This necklace has everything I love combined together. The coco pukalet beads, vintage Lucite beads and a metal Hindu goddess pendant. Definitely a necklace I would wear often, if  I kept it for myself.

Sweet Symphony - Wood and Carnelian Beaded Earrings

Initially, when making these, I fell head over heels in love with them and was planning on keeping them for myself, but another pair won out. I just adore the earthiness and  richness of the colors. Definitely a pair of earrings I would wear everyday.
