From Hobby to Career
When I started beading as a hobby in 2000, I remember how excited I was just to look at glass beads and mysterious gemstones. Today I have turned that hobby into a career. My summers are busy creating and selling my work at Art Festivals and other small town events. I have built a wonderful customer base in Southern MN and surrounding areas, and those customer and new friend relationships are what makes all the hard work so rewarding.
My passion has shifted to metalworking and I am now designing with precious metal clay, riveting brass and copper, fusing fine silver and soldering sterling and copper metals. The opportunities and designs are endless and I have only begun to learn and experiment. I am thrilled each day to pick up a lump of clay or piece of copper to see where it will lead me. I have taken several classes, but there is so much more to learn and I love soaking up new information. When I am strolling Art Festivals, Art Galleries or Esty shops, I am blown away by the talent and amazing beauty artists can create.
In this day and age of instant gratification, have it now and have it cheap, it is refreshing to know that people still appreciate handcrafted jewelry and that artists a still willing to push the envelope to create new techniques and mediums.
Thank you for reading and Buy Handmade!
